UK production duo The Chemical Brothers today released “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted,” the first single from their upcoming album Born In The Echoes. Festival vibes abound, we look forward to hearing the full project, which includes features from Q-Tip, St. Vincent and Beck. Muy caliente.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra hits us in all the right places with, “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone,” the second single off of their upcoming album Multi-Love (out May 26 via Jagjaguwar). I’ve been lost in the melody and bass line for the last 30 minutes (honesty is the best policy no?). Having a shit day? In need of a pick me up? This just might be the jam for you. Cheers!
Chicago’s theWHOevers continue their “marathon” of drops for their new project Marathon with their latest release “Tree House.” Over soulful and sexy production courtesy of Ka-Yu, DOTKOM and J Arthur trade off with bars about life’s highs and lows (if you have a pulse, you’ll dig it). So far, 2 for 2, looking forward to how the rest of this project plays out.
DC lyricist/beat extraordinaire Oddisee gives us a crash course on love on the single “That’s Love” off of his upcoming project The Good Fight. Out May 5th via Mello Music Group, very excited to see what the whole project in it’s entirety has in store for us. Already picturing a beautiful evening or twenty this summer with this in very heavy rotation, zero sleep allowed on this one.
Chicago’s own theWHOevers hit us with the first release off of their next album Marathon, “No Way,” bringing vocalist Erthe St. James along for the ride. An interesting thing about this project- they are releasing the project song by song every two weeks! Very intriguing, we will be keeping you updated on how this turns out. Much love for the Panik flip as well.
Chicago’s Lamon Manuel links with TK brethren Skech185 and Houston producer ATD (Analog(ue) Tape Dispenser) on “Skies” the first offering off of his upcoming project Music To Feel Like Shit To. With a blistering drum beat and haunting choir sample as the backdrop, Lamon and Skech trade bars while the punches fly in a visual that finds us privy to an evening in an underground women’s fight club (Word to Samantha Wakefield). An excellent introduction for what’s to come, we can’t wait to feel like shit listening to the full album!
Young Heavy Souls strikes again, this time with label head Matt Black checking into the action with his debut instrumental album Peace To Mateo. The Detroit representer pulls no punches while delivering a delightfully diverse collection of sounds over the course of 10 tracks. He brings it live as well, so be sure to catch him March 30th when he touches down at Rodan.
LA producer Nosaj Thing let’s loose the lead single, “Cold Stares,” off of his freshly announced LP Fated and he’s brought Chance The Rapper and The O’My’s vocalist Maceo Haymes along for the ride. Beautiful and haunting, safe to say we look forward to hunkering down and hearing the whole project! Be on the look out for the full release of Fated May 5.
