FACE MELT
Dubstep / Glitch / Bass / Hip-Hop… all roads lead here.

When talking about Hip-Hop or any of the countless genres it has influenced, it’s all about the beats. Even after a producer loops ‘Amen Brother’ for the millionth time, it will always be about the beats. They’re the foundation of Hip-Hop, and the defining characteristic of any artist or genre claiming Hip-Hop as inspiration. And at FACE MELT, they’re the only thing that matters.

Presented by Ground Lift Media, FACE MELT is a monthly event series which showcases envelope-pushing artists on a local, national, and international level. The 2011 programming schedule includes Live Bands, Live PA sets, DJs/Turntablists, & Touring Acts spanning genres like Dubstep, Glitch, Electronic, Hip-Hop, and Beat-related. And if that’s not enough, the resident roster boasts some of Chicago’s finest talents –Maker (Stonesthrow, Now-Again), Phaded (Dubfix), & DJ Intel (The Comeups, Platter Pirates). Hosted by ADaD (All Natural, Eulorhythmics).

A.D. (After Disco)
Exploring a decade in House music 1979-89…

It was a publicity stunt gone awry, backlash from years of commercialized dance music. Steve Dahl’s infamous Disco Demolition Night (July 12, 1979) may have marked the end of an era to some, but Disco lived on in the ‘underground’ –thriving in fact– eventually finding a new voice as House music. Forced to continually evolve with the times and technology, House music’s rich history is based in a struggle for creative freedom, a struggle which defines the genre to this day.

Presented by Electric Elegance and Ground Lift Media, the new monthly event series A.D. (After Disco) takes a closer listen to the tumultuous post-Demolition Night years, and celebrates the emergence and evolution of House music & culture. Every 3rd Friday, A.D. takes over Chicago’s Beauty Bar with a resident lineup of up-and-coming and journeyman talents including Adulture (Dust Traxx), Just.One.Duran, Yazi the DJ, and TREW. Also featuring monthly headliners DJs. Past headliners have included Frique (Son of Lea), Weaponry, and Chicago House legend Terry Hunter.

A.D. aims to invoke and inspire a movement. In the beginning there was Disco, now let’s learn about what happens After Disco…..
